I Am An Astronaut

New Song made by Me, and Ms. Louisiana Kreutz.

I Am An Astronaut

Okay, so it's a cover. It hails from the UK bubblegum 70's classic by Ricky Wilde.

And for comparison (the original's better, surely)...

Found via this excellent compilation.

I heard this single by Ricki Wilde while on vacation in Sweden with my mother (visiting family), presumably back in 1972 when I was just 4 years old. It was played on the radio, and apparantly resonated so much in my mind that I managed to convince my mother to buy the single for me. I had no record player, so I had to rely on my brothers to play it for me when I came home. The song stayed with me, as did the B side Hertfordshire Rock, but after a while, I suppose I stopped bothering my brothers. I haven't heard it since, until today, many many years after. Wow. It's not really great music, but the memories
it evokes are warming. Thank you for posting this, and I hope you can forgive me for not listening to your cover version first. I will do so now, I promise!

I first heard the Ricki Wilde original a couple months ago on WFMU's "Greasy Kid Stuff." It quickly became a favorite of my two kids, ages 2 and 4. My daughter (2)was sitting with me when I downloaded and played your version. She was clapping and singing along and demanded that I play it two more times. You have a new fan :-)

I heard another cover of this song yesterday in a club and thought 'oh god it's so familiar, what is it?'
Like your cover!
